Hierve el Agua Tour

This tour visits a very beautiful landscape area and the so-called “petrified waterfalls” formed during millions of years by the precipitation of limestone. The location is outside the valley and it takes almost two hours to get there. Besides the landscape and the hike to see the full site, there is also the possibility of swimming in the pools there.

About This Tour
The place is of stunning beauty, surrounded by mountains and a gorgeous landscape.
The place is called HIERVE EL AGUA (Boiling Water) even though the water from the springs is not hot. The sources of water look like boiling because of the gas bubbles associated with the springing water which gives the impression of boiling. The Cascades are geological formations that were formed out of the suspended carbonates and other minerals during millions of years; they give the impression of petrified waterfalls.
To really see the whole place, a hike is necessary. It takes about two hours to do that, depending on how fast we walk; it goes down the hill and up again. After the hike, we will reach the pools, where will have the possibility of enjoying a good swim.
On our way back we will visit a Palenque, the place where MEZCAL is made, have a taste of it and if you wish, purchase some of it.
NOTE: Due to the fact that the area is own by an Indian community, you will be asked to:
1.- Pay the Access at two different places and a Parking fee
2.- Take a community guide for the hike.
